A 37-year-old New Windsor man pleaded guilty Aug. 18 in Orange County Court to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced.
Howard Fitts admitted during the plea proceeding that he engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a child younger than 13 between December 2024 and May 2025.
Fitts is expected to be sentenced Nov. 17 to 18 years in state prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He also will be required to register as a sex offender under the New York Sex Offender Registration Act.
Hoovler credited the Town of New Windsor Police Department with conducting the investigation that led to Fitts’ arrest.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine DeModna.
