Over the summer, 12-year-old Cornwall athlete Ronin Rivas made waves in the competitive mountain biking scene, securing the title of CAT 2/3 12U Champion in the Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series. The series, which saw elite young riders competing across the country, included stops in North Carolina, New Jersey, California, and Vermont.

Ronin, in sixth grade, dominated the competition, starting strong with back-to-back first place finishes at Rock Creek in North Carolina and Mountain Creek in New Jersey. He continued to impress with a solid third place finish in California before wrapping up the series in Vermont, placing sixth at the prestigious Fox US Open.

With over 40 young competitors in the 12U category, Ronin’s overall performance secured him the top spot in points, a remarkable achievement for the budding athlete.

As he looks to the future, Ronin is setting his sights on the Crankworx World Tour next year. Known for his passion for slopestyle, Ronin hopes to showcase his impressive trick arsenal, including backflips, can-cans, and tuck no-handers. His slopestyle skills earned him a third-place finish in the 15U category at the Highland Mountain Bike Park Jump Jam this summer, proving that he’s not only a force in downhill racing but also in the thrilling world of freestyle riding.
