Posted

On Friday, June 14, 2024 at 1:21 p.m., the New Windsor Police Department responded to Silver Stream Village at 16 Bivona Ln. for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old male with stab wounds to his right hand and face, with profuse bleeding. Officers placed a tourniquet on the male’s arm in an attempt to control the bleeding from his hand. A second tourniquet was placed by New Windsor EMS. The male was transported by New Windsor EMS to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY for treatment.

Investigation at the scene and at the hospital by New Windsor Police Officers and Detectives developed probable cause to believe that the male had been engaged in a violent encounter with two other males, which led to the stab wounds.

A search warrant for the residence was applied for and obtained. During the execution of the judicially- authorized search warrant, Detectives recovered the knife used in the attack, along with quantities of crack cocaine.

Police arrested 59-year-old Steven Gordon, of New Windsor. He was charged with Assault 1st (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th (Class C Felony), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (Class D Felony). Police also arrested 67-year-old John Maines, of New Windsor, NY. He was charged with Strangulation 1st (Class C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th (Class C Felony). Both subjects were arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Part in Goshen, NY and remanded to Orange County Jail.

New Windsor Police were assisted on scene and during the investigation by the New York State Police and Orange County District Attorney Investigators.
