The Center of Highland Falls to celebrate 10th anniversary

On Saturday, Sept. 14, ten years of service to the Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery community will be celebrated when The Center of Highland Falls hosts an Anniversary Gala.

The Center, located on Main St. in Highland Falls, provides services to the community including events and activities for persons of all ages, as well as assists other groups with their good work in the town and village. Brian Aylward is the president, Denise Gibney and Rich Fox are vice presidents, Ann Taylor is treasurer, and Hannah Pitt, John Flynn, Barbara ‘Charlie’ Murphy Dodson and Lisa Sibley round out the Board of Directors.

The anniversary event will take place at Cliff Haus, a private residence in Highland Falls, with the theme of ‘A Celebration of Community Spirit and Progress’. There will be two honorees – both supporters of the community non-profit – Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler and Mimi Turi, the retired senior director of program finance management at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Hoovler has been the district attorney since 2014, after running on a platform that partners prosecutors with law enforcement and county residents.

“Among District Attorney Hoovler’s many goals are to combat substance abuse, underage drinking and related mental health concerns,” The Center’s Founder and Executive Director, Ann Molina said. “We are proud to work with him toward such achievements. We will honor DA Hoovler for his great commitment to our county and community.”

Turi has spent her career working to build “a culture of health” in America with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. “The Center actively strives to carry forward General Robert Wood Johnson’s legacy while promoting equity, compassion and respect,” Molina said. She thanked Turi for nominating The Center to receive grants from the Foundation.

The party is open to the public, organizer Murphy-Dodson said this week, and begins at 6 p.m. Individual reservations are $50 per person, but there are also opportunities to be sponsors of the event with Founders Circle ($500+), Vanguard Level ($250+), and Inspirators ($100+). The event includes Hors D’oeuvres, a catered light buffet and dessert, with the program portion set for 7 p.m. The attire, Murphy-Dodson points out, is “business with fancy sneakers!”
