Tournament raises $22,000 for Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh scored an “Ace” and raised $22,000 in its third charity golf tournament, “Take a Swing at Hunger Golf Classic!” 

The golf tournament, held on July 24 had 88 participants who enjoyed a fantastic day at the beautiful Powelton Club in Newburgh, New York. A post-tournament celebration featured golf awards, as well as prize raffles and a delicious dinner buffet. 

Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh is a 501(c)(3) registered charity that prepares fresh, nutritious meals for residents of the City of Newburgh and Towns of Newburgh and New Windsor, who are confined to their homes and in need.  Dedicated volunteers deliver hot meals on weekdays at noontime, along with a friendly visit and optional frozen meals for evenings, weekends and holidays. To volunteer, apply for meals or to donate, go to mealsonwheelsnewburgh.org or call (845) 562-3490 for more information.  

Join Meadow Hill Reformed Church for their amazing Chicken barbecue dinner.  The Grab-and-Go Chicken BBQ Dinner takes place on Saturday, August 19, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Meadow Hill Reformed Church, 211 Fletcher Drive, Newburgh. The cost is $15 per person at the door. Menu is chicken, corn, beans, potato, and dessert!

The Town of Newburgh Recreation Department, Chadwick Lake Park, invites you to enjoy the St. Sacrament Lunch Cruise in Lake George, NY on Thursday, September 14.  Have a wonderful, relaxing day on the beautiful lake.  There will be a delicious buffet and stunning scenery, along with live entertainment!  

Bus departs approximately 8:15 a.m. from Town of Newburgh Recreation Department, 311 Route 32, Newburgh, NY 12550, and the bus returns approx. 5 p.m. Fees for residents are $90, and fees for non-residents are $100.  Pre-register on line at townofnewburgh.recdesk.com or phone: 845-564-77851.
