The most wonder time of the year is approaching. No, not Christmas movies yet, back to school! The members of the Valley Central Scholarship Council are already planning events. Mark your calendars.

The first item is a Fall SAT Prep Course.  The SATs are now all digital and preparation for the new format is encouraged.  Registration is live on our website at VCSC1964.com.

There are 8 classes: 9/11, 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 9/10,10/17, 10/24,10/30.  They run from 5:45 to 8:15 pm.  (First and last classes are on Wednesdays; all others are on Thursdays.)  The cost is $300 which includes the text.  Many colleges require students applying for their scholarships to submit SAT or ACT scores. The money spent on this course could lead to a big return. The registration ends on Sept. 10th or until the class is full.

The second item is the annual Duck Derby to be held on October 5th at the Montgomery Fire Department. The MFD members  assisted  last year when the Wallkill was running high and fast.  They created a slide-type track and the MFD came to the rescue with their water truck.  This year they will help them on their turf.
Both events are live on the website: vcsc1964.com.

I’m sad to say the Montgomery Summer Concert Series is nearing the end. Hey, Mayor Mike, how about more money in the budget next year to extend these great concerts into September? General Montgomery Day Committee announced that Paul Satkowski was selected as Grand Marshal for General Montgomery Day this year. Congrats, Paul. General Montgomery Day will be held on September 7. There will be the usual parade, vendors, food, fireworks. It is a nice family event. Just please do not bring your dogs and no skateboards or bikes. Take that from someone who almost got run into by one last year. There are numerous law enforcement members around, this really needs to be enforced.
