Teen Movie Night at the library is scheduled for Friday, July 26, 4 p.m. Our feature film is titled My Neighbor Totoro, a Japanese animated fantasy film about two girls who move to the country and have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby. For ages 10 years and up. Refreshments served.

Our book discussion this month will be The Anxious Generation by Johnathan Haidt, planned for Monday, July 29,6:00 p.m. We have set aside extra copies at the library if needed. For more information, please visit or call the library (845)778-7621. 

Rachel Leeya will be the next Music in the Grove artist, Wednesday, July 31, 6:30 p.m.

There is a systemwide announcement for libraries in the RCLS service area. Starting on Thursday, August 1, through Sunday, August 4, certain online library services including but not limited to searching for materials, placing holds, and checking your account, will be unavailable. We will be back up and running at full service by Monday, August 5. Visit your library to access materials or use the Libby app for digital content. Check with your library for more information and to confirm their operating hours during this period. The Josephine-Louise Public Library will remain open during this time. Keep in mind that circulation will be limited. We will be able to check out materials,  but will not be able to check your account, check your items in, or place holds for you. We appreciate your patience with our staff during this time.


Panera Bread to host fundraiser for Wallkill Ambulance Corps
Panera Bread will donate 20% of its sales to the Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corp Inc. during a fundraising event on July 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at its location at 1278 Route 300.

Customers can support the ambulance corps by using the code FUNDU at online checkout, in the Panera App, or at the in-cafe kiosk. Showing a flyer or a digital copy to the cashier, or entering the promo code FUNDU at checkout on Panerabread.com or the Panera App, will also ensure the organization receives a portion of the proceeds.

Gift card purchases and catering orders are excluded from the donation. Services vary by cafe. For more information, visit fundraising.panerabread.com.

Walker Valley Fire Company to host Chicken BBQ
The Walker Valley Fire Company invites the community to its Chicken BBQ on August 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at 3659 NY-52 in Walker Valley.

The event will feature a meal of chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and dessert. Tickets are priced at $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, veterans, and children ages 5-12, and free for children under 5.
Tickets can be purchased from any member or at the firehouse on Monday nights from 7 to 9 p.m.

Maybrook Church to host sale

The Maybrook United Methodist Church will hold a sale on August 9 and 10, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors can browse a variety of new and gently used items, including household goods, jewelry, clothing, and holiday decor.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church is located at 313 Homestead Ave., Maybrook For more information, contact the church at (845) 427-4093.

Reformed Church of Shawangunk to host Vacation Bible School
The Reformed Church of Shawangunk is set to host its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) from August 12 to 16, inviting children to join Camp Firelight, an engaging week-long program based on Psalm 56:3: “Whenever I’m afraid, I put my trust in you.”

The event, held at 1166 Hoagerburgh Rd, Wallkill, will run daily from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. A free breakfast will be available for campers from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., with VBS programming from 9 a.m. to noon. The program is open to all children ages 4 to 11.

Camp Firelight aims to provide a fun and educational experience, teaching children to trust in God when facing life’s challenges. The activities will include Bible lessons, crafts, games, and music, all centered around the theme of trust and faith.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children online at the provided link to ensure a spot for their child.
