Holidays in the Hamlet

It’s just a few days before Holidays in the Hamlet will take place in the Hamlet of Wallkill on Saturday, December 2. Along with Vision of Wallkill, the Wallkill Public Library is presenting Illusionist Ryan Dutcher who will perform mind-bending magic, cutting-edge comedy and amazing audience participation. Contact the Wallkill Public Library to register for this performance at 2 pm.

Bring the family and join your neighbors as you help kick off the holiday season at the main event at 3 pm near the Wallkill Public Library lawn and Shawangunk Town Hall. Choral groups from our schools and a DJ will put you in the holiday spirit. Stroll the marketplace with local artisan vendors. Sip on hot chocolate or cider and nosh on some food as you shop. Santa will help with lighting the town’s tree and then meet with children until 7 pm. Children are encouraged to bring a letter for Santa telling him what gifts they are hoping for and take a picture with him too. Santa wants the child’s name and address to be clear and complete on their letter so he can write back. Stop by the Vision of Wallkill booth to purchase a limited-edition holiday ornament. Ornaments are $12 when pre-ordered by Thursday November 30. A limited supply of extra ornaments will be available at the VOW booth for $15. Visit VOW’s Facebook page for a sneak peek of the ornament. Pre-order via DM or text 845-527-6230.
The evening ends with a spectacular show of fireworks.

The holiday season continues as residents decorate their homes, businesses, front yards and sidewalks to “sparkle and shine”. There is still time to be included in the Sparkle & Shine Contest, but all of your lights and inflatables must be installed by December 3. Be sure to have lights on and inflatables up for judging between December 4-9. The residential categories are Traditional, Creative and Motion. We will also select the businesses with the best decorations and holiday spirit. Do your part to make the town bright and beautiful and post your photos on Vision of Wallkill’s Facebook page. (You may include your address if you choose.) Winners will be announced by December 14. Take an evening drive with holiday music playing to see the wonderful displays that brighten our town.
