The Wallkill Board of Education prepared for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year with their annual reorganization meeting on July 2 with incumbents sworn in and district designations approved. Wallkill Schools officially open on September 4.
The annual meeting saw Joseph LoCicero serving again as Board of Education President and Thomas Frisbie once again as Vice President for the 24-25 school year. The oath of office was administered to incumbent members William Hecht and Thomas Nafey. Incumbent Donna Crowley was not present at the meeting and would be sworn by the district clerk over the next 30 days.
The first of two commendations was presented to Tom Hein, publicly recognized as a recipient of the 2023-2024 Board of Education Award for Accomplishment. Hein was recommended by Wallkill Senior High School principal B.J. Masopust for his commitment to setting new and higher standards for achieving the school district’s mission, goals, and objectives.
The second commendation was presented to Hecht who received a Board Achievement Award for participation in New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) leadership development training and a Board Excellence Award for participation in NYSSBA leadership development opportunities.
