Senior baseball tournament underway

District 19 tournament play began last week with the Senior baseball tournament.

All local teams – Pine Bush and Wallkill Area – were both relegated to the consolation bracket after their second-round games.

Pine Bush opened the tournament with a 10-2 win over Port Jervis before falling to Warwick to land in the consolation bracket. Wallkill Area received a bye to the second round, where they lost, 10-7, to Cornwall.

Wallkill are and Pine Bush were both eliminated in their consolation games on Wednesday.

The Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League also continued with its second full week of play last week.

District 19 Little League
Seniors
Pine Bush 10, Port Jervis 2
Payton Malm had three hits, including two doubles, scoring three runs and driving in one as Pine Bush routed Port Jervis, 12-2 in a game that was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule. On June 17 in the Town of Newburgh.

Luciano Rubino had one hit, a run scored and two RBIs, while Mike Joerger had a hit, a run scored and two RBIs. Cody Vanoyan had a hit, two runs scored and an RBI. Xavier Vargas singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in two. Liam Tuttle singled and drove in two.

Cornwall 10, Wallkill Area 7
Bradyn Nicoli had three hits, including a double and drove in two runs in Wallkill Area’s loss to Cornwall on July 18 at Watts Park in Middletown.
The teams were tied after six innings, but Cornwall got three runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the victory.
Anthony Daley had a hit and two RBZIs for Wallkill Area. Declan Gardner had a hit, two runs scored and an RBI. He also walked twice. Connor Nelson had a hit and an RBI.

Minisink 9, Pine Bush 1
Christopher McCauley got the win and hit a home run as Minisink banished the Bushmen to the consolation bracket with a victory on June 18 at the Town of Newburgh.
McCauley finished with a hit, three runs scored, and two RBIs and Liam Barry had two hits, including a double and drove in three runs for Minisink.
Aiden Brophy had three hits for Pine Bush. Cody Vanoyan scored their lone run.

Greenwood Lake 9, Pine Bush 4

Greenwood Lake scored six runs in the second inning, and Pine Bush never recovered, and was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday at the Town of Wallkill Little League.
Greenwood Lake added another three runs in the fifth inning.
Pine Bush got two runs in the second inning on Carlton Hilliard, IV’s two-run single. Mike Joerger scored on a third-inning error for Pine Bush and Liam Tuttle drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning to score Aiden Brophy.


Wallkill Area 14, Middletown 7

Wallkill Area rebounded from their loss to Cornwall with a win over Middletown on Wednesday at Middletown Little League.
Anthony Daley had three hits and four RBIs to lead Wallkill. Michael Daley singled home two runs in Wallkill’s three-run fourth. They scored in every inning but the seventh. Quincy Rogers also had two RBIs.

Greenwood Lake 20, Wallkill Area 16
Michael Daley had four hits, including a double, and five RBIs, as Wallkill Area scored 16 runs. However, it wasn’t enough to beat Greenwood Lake and they were eliminated from the tournament.
Declan Gardner had a hit, two runs scored, and two RBIs and Anthony Daley had a hit, two runs scored and two RBIs. Henrik Carlson had two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Connor Nelson doubled and scored a run, while Quincy Rogers had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Zack Rao had two hits and scored three runs and Vinny Daley had two hits, three runs scored and an RBI.

9U Division 4
Hudson Valley Renegades 15, Hudson Valley Storm Diaz 14
The Hudson Valley Storm struck first, but the Hudson Valley Renegades struck most as they outlasted the Storm in a four-inning slugfest at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill.
The Storm opened up an 8-0 lead after batting in the second inning, but the Renegades posted an 11-run bottom of the second inning to take an 11-8 lead. The Storm took a 14-12 lead, heading into the bottom of the fourth, but the Renegades scored three in the bottom of the inning to win the game.

The Hudson Valley Storm scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the first game on their way to a doubleheader sweep of the Hudson Valley Select Herald on Saturday at Wallkill Area Little League

The Storm got two runs in the fourth inning before the Select answered with three in the top of the fifth.
The Storm won the second game after a six-run third inning gave them an 11-2 lead. The Select rallied back with two in the fifth and four in the sixth, but the Storm were able to hold them off.

10U Division 4
Pine Bush Rebels 14,
Black Dirt Barnstormers 12

The Pine Bush Rebels lost a seven-run lead in the fifth inning, but then outscored the Black Dirt Barnstormers in the sixth inning to outslug the Black Dirt Barnstormers on June 16 at Florida Little League.
The Rebels broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning to take a seven-run lead and the Barnstormers tied the score in the bottom of the fifth with seven runs of their own.
The Rebels responded with six in the top of the sixth inning and held off a Black Dirt rally to hold on for the victory.

Hudson Valley Storm 14, New Paltz Knights 5
The Hudson Valley Storm recovered from a four-run deficit and blew the game open with eight runs in the fifth inning to beat the New Paltz Knights on Thursday at Clearwater Park in New Paltz.

The game ended after five innings.
New Paltz scored two runs in each of the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead before the Storm tied the game in the third inning and took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead.

Hudson Valley Select Black 4

Hudson Valley Select Black 0
The Wallkill Panthers swept a doubleheader from the Hudson Valley Select Black on June 16 at Wallkill Area Little League.
The Panthers won the first game on a walk-off single after the Select scored three runs in the last two innings to tie the game at 4-4 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
The second game was never in doubt as the Panthers pounded out 21 hits, scoring five runs in the first inning, six in the second and eight in the third on their way to a four-inning win.

Hudson Valley Select Gold 3
The Wallkill Panthers scored all four of their runs in the first two innings and held on for a victory over Hudson Valley Select Gold on June 18 at New Windsor Little League.
The Panthers broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning with three runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Select scored solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close the lead to one.

12U Division 4

Mid-Hudson Tigers 10, Pine Bush Rebels Blue 0
The Pine Bush Rebels split a doubleheader on Jun3 16 with the Mid-Hudson Tigers at Pine Bush Town Park.
The Rebels fell behind by four runs in the top of the first inning, but scored a run in the first, and two in the second to cut the lead to one run. The Tigers added a run in the third to take a 5-3 lead, but the Rebels answered with four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 7-5 lead.
The Tigers tied the game in the fourth and took a two-run lead in the fifth, but the Rebels scored three in the bottom of the inning to win the game.
The Rebels couldn’t get the bats going in the second game, mustering only one hit in a loss that was called after four innings by the 10-run rule.

Frozen Ropes Rockies 0
The Pine Bush Rebels pounded out 11 hits and held the /frozen Rope Rockies to only three in a win on June 18 at Frozen Ropes in Chester.

The Rebels scored two runs in the first inning, another in the second. They added three more in the fourth and four in the sixth.

Pine Bush Rebels Blue 10, Middletown Cubs 8
The Pine Bush Rebels Blue beat the Middletown Cubs by two runs at P.J. Park in Middletown.

Westchester Fire 9,
Hudson Valley Storm Two 7

The Hudson Valley Storm opened a 6-1 lead after the first two innings, but the Westchester Fire scored eight runs in the bottom of the third to rally for the victory.

Pine Bush Rebels Blue 5, Naturals 5
The Pine Bush Rebels Blue battled the Naturals to a four-inning tie on Saturday at Spratt Park in Poughkeepsie.
The Rebels built a 5-2 lead after their first three times at-bat, but the Naturals scored two runs in the bottom of the third and one more in the fourth to tie the game before it was stopped.

The Pine Bush Rebels managed only two hits in a shutout loss to the Rockland Pirates on Saturday at Stony Point Little League.

14U Division 3
Poughkeepsie Vikings 4,

Wallkill Panthers 3
An error in the bottom of the eighth inning sunk the Wallkill Panthers on June 18 at Hyde Park Little League.
A.J. Santacroce had two hits for the Panthers, scored a run and drove in a run, while Ryan Murphy had two hits and a run scored from the leadoff spot. John Harington singled home a run for the Panthers.
The Panthers took the lead with three runs in the fourth inning, and the Vikings to got one back in the sixth inning and two in the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Hudson Valley Storm One 10,

Poughkeepsie Vikings 3
The Hudson Valley Storm rode a six-run sixth inning to a win over the Poughkeepsie Vikings on Thursday at Hyde Park Little League.
J.J. Alicea and Julian Verlazza each had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Edwin Nunez had a hit and two RBIs. Danny Cuello and Lucas Algarin had an RBI each.
Nunez got the win with four innings, allowing two runs on five hits.

Cortlandt Nationals 9,

Hudson Valley Storm One 7
The Cortlandt Nationals got a hit in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a tie in Saturday’s win over the Hudson Valley Storm One at Sunset Park in Cortlandt.
The Storm scored six runs in the fourth inning.
Ben Carrion had a hit, a run scored and two RBIs, while Bryce Foster and Jake Bione each had a hit and an RBI. Bione also scored a run. Lucas Algarin also had a hit and a run scored.

Jake Bione had two hits, including a double and drove in six runs as the Storm One beat Storm Chapel Field on June 18 at Chapel Field Christian School in Pine Bush.
Danny Cuello had a hit, a run scored and two RBIs, while Julian Verlezza had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Bryce Foster also drove in a run. Christopher Grant had two hits, including a double, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Hudson Valley Storm CF 15,

Pine Bush Rebels 4
Connor Quirk had two hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs as the Hudson Valley Storm of Chapel Field beat the Pine Bush Rebels 14U team.
Noah Pena had a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs and Christopher Grant had three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Aiden Byrne had two hits and an RBI for the Rebels.

Hudson Valley Heroes 16,

Hudson Valley Storm One 15
The Hudson Valley Storm One scored seven runs in the top of the sixth inning, but their comeback attempt fell one run short in a loss to the Hudson Valley Heroes on Thursday at Stanford Rec in Stanfordville.
The Heroes scored all 16 of their runs in the first three innings, including an eighth-run third. Braeden McConnell doubled twice and drove in four runs for the Storm. Mike Arroyo had two hits, including a double, two runs scored and three RBIs.

15U Division 3
Hudson Valley Renegades 4,

Hudson Valley Storm One 1
Nick Dyson had a hit and an RBI, as the Hudson Valley Renegades downed the Hudson Valley Storm One on June 18 at Delano-Hitch Stadium in Newburgh.
Christian Maltais had a hit and a run scored for the Renegades, as did Eirnin Kellner.
Jayce Hayden had two hits for the Storm.

Naturals 5, Hudson Valley Storm One 3

The Hudson Valley Storm One fell behind by three runs in the third inning and couldn’t recover in a loss to the Naturals on June 17 at Delano-Hitch Stadium in Newburgh.
Anthony Forzano had a hit and an RBI for the Storm. Braydyn Nicoli and Braeden McConnell also drove in runs for the Storm, who pulled to within a run after the fifth inning, but the Naturals scored two in the top of the sixth to get some insurance.

Ryan Hoffman had two hits, including a double, leading Hudson Valley Storm Chapel Field to a win over Hudson Valley Two on Saturday at Chapel Field Christian School.

Gatlin Wilson and Michael Fisch both singled home runs.
Connor Nelson drove in a run and Brendan Elwood had two doubles. Jon VanVlak doubled and drove in a run.

Beekman Bombers 4, Hudson Valley One 3

Jackson Bradley had three hits, including a double and a run scored as the Hudson Valley One dropped the first game of a doubleheader to the Beeman Bombers on Saturday at Town Center Park in Beekman,

Ben Dotort had two hits and two RBIs for Hudson Valley. Patrick Frawley tripled and drove in two runs. Anthony Forzano tripled and scored a run.

16U Division 3
Cobras 6, Pine Bush Rebels 0
The Cobras scored four runs in the first inning and limited the Pine Bush Rebels to three hits in a win on Thursday at Goshen High School.
Jason Hutchinson had two hits for the Rebels.

Alex Cione led the Cobras with two hits.

John Gore hit a two-run home run and finished with three RBIs and a run scored in the Hudson Valley Storm One’s win over the Stony Point Patriots on July 16 at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Stony Point.

Justin Piscopo drove in a run and scored a run. Logan Gilbert had four hits and drove in three runs. Casey Vogel had two hits, a run scored and an RBI, while Tyler Valentin had two hits and two runs scored with a RBI.
