Jesse Boniface faces 25 years in prison

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced Tuesday that Jesse Boniface, 52, of Middletown, was convicted on all charges, including first-degree rape, following a jury trial in Orange County Court. Boniface faces up to 25 years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for Dec. 16.

Boniface was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail following the jury's verdict.

According to evidence presented at trial, on Nov. 17, 2023, in the Town of Crawford, Boniface forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse and oral sexual conduct with another person. The incident was promptly reported to the Town of Crawford Police Department, which conducted an investigation and arrested Boniface.

District Attorney Hoovler thanked the Town of Crawford Police Department for its investigation, which led to Boniface's arrest, and the New York State Police for assisting with the investigation and analysis of forensic evidence.

“The vile allegations, as proven at trial, are among the most despicable acts one can imagine,” Hoovler said. “At sentencing, we will seek the maximum sentence permitted, as that is the only appropriate sanction for this defendant’s conduct. I praise the bravery of the victim in this case, who is forced to live every day with the awful consequences of this defendant’s actions. This conviction will ensure that this predator is no longer free to terrorize another victim. My office will continue to dedicate all necessary resources to holding violent sexual offenders accountable.”

Hoovler commended Senior Assistant District Attorney Michael Purcell and Assistant District Attorney Ralph Deluca, who prosecuted the case.
