Spaghetti & meatballs support Zach
Come to a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to support Zach Osterhoudt on Sunday, April 24 at the American Legion in Highland.
Limited dine-in seating is available at 2 p.m. To-go meals available from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person. Please order online for both dine-in and to-go by April 17! Visit
The event is a joint effort of the Highland Rotary Club and the Highland High School Interact Club. The spaghetti & meatballs will be prepared by Sal’s Place.
Zach is a 15-year-old at Highland High School who was recently diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. He is an active and resilient young man who enjoys basketball, soccer, baseball, and has a passion for motorsports and riding his ATV. He is independent and has a job to support his activities.

Highland Library sets hearing, vote
The Highland Public Library Board of Trustees will be holding the annual Special District meeting on Tuesday April 26 at 5:30 p.m. A reading of the proposed budget will follow a report from the President of the Board. The annual budget vote will be held in the library from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Wednesday April 27, 2022. Copies of the proposed budget may be obtained from the library beginning April 11, 2022 and on the library website.
There are two people running for two seats on the Library Board.
Patrick Mason has lived and worked in this community for over 15 years. He is a Retail AVP/SM for TD Bank and has been in People Leadership/Management for over 25 years. He is a graduate of the Ulster Leadership Development Institute and a Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress Fellow. He most recently served as Vice-Chairperson of the Ulster County United Way.

Elaine Rivera, was born and raised in Highland (Elaine McCarthy) and attended Highland Schools. She was employed by the Town of Lloyd for 38 years retiring in 2013. She held the titles of Bookkeeper and Confidential Secretary to the Supervisor, Deputy Supervisor and Assessor.

Free spaghetti dinner for seniors and veterans
The Rotary Club of Southern Ulster will be serving up a free spaghetti dinner to local seniors and Veterans on Saturday, April 30, 2:30 - 5 p.m. at the Clintondale Christian Church, 302 Cresent Ave., Highland.
The menu includes salad, spaghetti & meatballs, bread, cookies, brownies, ice cream. Music by Anthony Dell.

Marlborough for Ukraine
On Wednesday, May 4, Community Connections will welcome Marlborough resident BJ Mikkelsen who has taken on the mission to provide aid to Ukrainian residents and refugees. Mr. Mikkelsen’s efforts are heroic, having already raised over $20,000. With the assistance of fellow Rotarians in Europe, the money goes directly to the needy. You just might be inspired to help as well when you hear the riveting stories about his personal journey to Germany to hand deliver food and medicine to Ukrainians in need.
The meeting will be virtual. You must register at, or by emailing, to receive the link for the meeting which will be sent 30 minutes before the presentation begins. Be part of the discussion on Wednesday, May 4, 7-8 p.m.

Rotary to host Derby Dinner Dance

The Rotary of Southern Ulster will host a Kentucky Derby Dinner Dance on Saturday, May 7, 6-10 p.m. at the Colden Manor at Spruce Lodge, 619 Route 17K, Montgomery.
The extravaganza features dinner and dancing, raffles and a best fabulous hat contest.
Tickets are $65 each. Group tables are available.
