As summer approaches, the town of Highland is abuzz with the arrival of a new dining establishment, “From The Ground Up.” Nestled in the heart of The Vineyard Commons Apartment Complex, the restaurant, owned by Liana and James, brings a fresh culinary experience to the area.

Originally conceived as a food truck two years ago, the venture has since evolved into a brick-and-mortar establishment. Prior to launching their own food truck, Liana and James honed their skills in the culinary industry, working at a catering company and a restaurant in Wappingers. Both graduates of the Culinary Institute of America, Liana specialized in food business management while James focused on hospitality management.

Drawing from their extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Liana and James have curated an engaging dining experience at “From The Ground Up.” The restaurant hosts various events, including comedy nights featuring local comedians and themed buffets like the recent Mother’s Day celebration.

While the couple currently has no plans to expand beyond their current location, they recently acquired another food truck to complement their restaurant offerings.

The ambiance at “From The Ground Up” is described as relaxed yet upscale, with contemporary music setting the tone. The restaurant maintains an active events calendar, ensuring that both regular patrons and newcomers have something to anticipate each visit.

Moreover, the staff at “From The Ground Up” prides themselves on accommodating diverse dietary preferences, such as veganism. Whether it’s the waitstaff or the kitchen team, patrons can expect personalized attention and dishes tailored to their tastes.

“From The Ground Up” aims to carve a niche in the local dining scene, offering a welcoming atmosphere and culinary delights crafted with care and creativity.

From the Ground Up is located at 6142 Merlot Dr, Highland. They are open Tuesday - Sunday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. and closed on Mondays.
