Shirley Ruland of Milton born on 02/02/39, passed into eternity on 10/19/22. Predeceased by her husband, Harold Ruland, her sister Doris (and her husband), and her dear friend Betty-loo; she is survived by her nieces, Alene Rhodes (husband Roy) and Elizabeth Ruland, and her great nieces and nephews.
Shirley had driven a school bus until an accident injured her hip causing her to rely on crutches the rest of her life. In spite of this, she was a barrel of laughs. She loved to tease and playfully threaten to "hang you up by your toes and beat you with (her) crutch" if anyone misbehaved. Her deviled eggs were well-known as was her eagerness to join in games, especially cards.
While living in Sidney NY, she accepted Christ, Jesus, as her Savior and Sustainer. She even experienced a warmth, one day, described by her as a hug from Jesus, as she cried over her husband's passing from lung cancer. Her last several years were mostly spent watching her favorite TV shows from her recliner, under the care of Rose.
A memorial service will be held at the Hillside Terrace Community Room on 9 Knollwood Ln. Poughkeepsie NY 12603 on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. Attendees, please bring a 3D magnet in her memory.
