Dozens of families and their children scrambled across Veterans Memorial Park last Saturday morning, March 16 during the Village of Montgomery’s annual Easter Egg hunt, checking every crevice and flipping every rock for the elusive eggs. While the weather was a little chilly and the sun was blotted out, the children’s spirits remained blazing as they searched for every last egg.
This year’s egg hunt was made possible thanks to the village’s volunteers, including Trustee Randi Picarello and students from Valley Central High School who carefully hid over 250 eggs all over the park and kept the event operating smoothly. The participants, after collecting the eggs, exchanged them for candy and chocolate bunnies while greeting the “Easter Bunny.” Additionally, several golden eggs were placed in especially difficult locations, yielding baskets brimming with goodies if returned.
“The kids were so excited they started before I said ‘go,’” Picarello said. “It’s been a while since there’s been good weather and no COVID.”
