Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack is pleased to welcome back Theatre on the Road to the Matthewis Persen House for the final three Saturdays of the 2022 season: October 15, 22 & 29. The house is open each Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm and is located at 74 John Street in uptown Kingston, at the historic intersection of John and Crown Streets. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Meet Matthewis Persen and Governor George Clinton at the Persen House! Both men will be there over the next three Saturdays to talk about their lives during the Revolution, the roles they played, and the aftermath of the burning of Kingston by British forces. Was Matthewis Persen’s tavern a hub for likeminded patriots? How did George Clinton balance being Governor and serving in the Continental Army? Interact with these historical figures and get a feel for what life was really like during the Revolutionary War.
Theatre on the Road offers entertaining and educational programs at schools, libraries, historic sites and theaters. Their productions, both original and classic, are produced and performed for the purpose of enriching and inspiring a diverse audience that include students and the general public.
“We are so happy to have Theatre on the Road closing out the 2022 season with us,” stated County Clerk Nina Postupack. “This season has been packed with fun, entertaining events and educational programs. It is an honor to be able to host all of these wonderful organizations that help promote our community’s history and heritage. I offer my heartfelt appreciation to everyone that has contributed to a successful 2022, and eagerly look forward to next season!”
