Walden PD makes arrest in Sunoco robbery

A Campbell Hall man was taken into custody Wednesday following an investigation into s robbery at a Walden convenience store

On February 24, 2022 at approximately 3:52 a.m., the Village of Walden Police Department was notified of a robbery that just occurred at the Sunoco gas station, 6 Main Street, Walden. 

Upon arrival, members interviewed the clerk from the store and learned that cash from the register was taken along with the clerk’s cell phone. Members were able to obtain video footage of the robbery. A search of the area was conducted which returned negative results for a suspect matching the description given by the store clerk. 

On March 2,  at approximately 10:20 a.m., members of the Village of Walden Police Department obtained a credible lead regarding the identity of a possible suspect from the February 24th robbery. Upon arrival at the suspect's residence, the suspect fled the scene. A brief foot pursuit occurred and ended when the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was taken to the Village of Walden Police Department for processing. 

Arrested was Marcus A. Horrego Jr., a 26year old male from Campbell Hall, NY. Horrego Jr. was charged with one count of Robbery in the Third Degree, a Felony and was released on an appearance ticket returnable on March 23, at 12p.m.

Police said no weapons were displayed or threatened during the robbery
